Heal my heart with your bleeding hands

I vaguely remember the first time I heard Jason & the Scorchers back in the early 1980s - "If Money Talks" and "White Lies" got about six minutes of airplay on whatever station I was listening to back then, but that was enough for me to snap up cassette copies of Lost and Found and Still Standing when I saw them in cutout racks a few years later...
So what's the deal with this cowpunk band, anyway? )
I really should do a mix CD of Jason and the Scorchers songs as well as a condensed version of the James McMurtry CDs I gave to [livejournal.com profile] cableclown and [livejournal.com profile] tatsmaru, who found them a little too weird.

"Bullet, meet foot"

The Army goes overboard with new OPSEC restrictions that apply to milblogs, e-mail, IMs and in theory, pretty much any way a soldier might want to communicate with people on the home front. Great move, guys. We're already getting our asses kicked in the propaganda war, and you're trying to shut the mouths of the only people actually trying to fight it. WTF is wrong with these people? Professor Death has links to reactions by Blackfive and Dadmanly, who are both justifiably pissed about this.
