I'll never forget my ex in Sweden's dad coming back from poland, and bringing a brown paper wrapped parcel, which he handed to 'Babcha' (grannie). It was polish smoked eel (head on!) and she got out a knife in her shaky little hands, and went to town. This is a woman who could barely share words with me (she spoke little swedish, I spoke less polish) and she could get you to set the table with a LOOK. And she stood in the middle of the kitchen, eating eel with her fingers.
It looked scary.
I can't eat sushihouse eel, because of some sauce they put on it is wheaty. Not that I can afford sushi anyways :P
