I could hit the notes. Weather or not anyone else found my rendition pleasant, that's another question indeed.

I was a high soprano (C above staff, baby...) until I hit puberty, and dropped into (no joke) a tenor. I really sort of grew like a boy, 7 inches and multiple shoe sizes in a year.

I had a bitch of a time with later choir directors, trying to convince them that I could not hit all of alto range. My range is pretty puny now, so I mostly just sing in the car.
