Yes, but then don't most European communities have decent affordable mass transporataion? What choice do we have in the US, especially if you don't live in a major metropolitan area?

Our only long distance trip this summer will be to Boston to visit our Uncle. We'd gladly take Amtrak over driving but it's such an embarassing joke. We know someone who recently took Amtrak to Boston from central NY state, a 5 1/2 hour drive -- it took 20 hours on Amtrak! No lie.
