a few words about Joe Jackson

He's one of those guys they used to call a "cult favorite" because his albums didn't sell the same way the big acts did and he didn't reel off a whole string of hot singles like some other bands. Still, somebody who wrote and performed "Is She Really Going Out With Him?", "Stepping Out", "Sunday Papers" and "Breaking Us In Two" deserves more than to be considered as one step up from a one-hit wonder. I really liked Night and Day, mainly because I was tipped to it by the bittersweet video for "Stepping Out" but also because I do like that style of music. This is all by way of saying that I finally got around to picking up the Night and Day CD; probably won't be playing the cuts for other people, but that's okay. I didn't buy it for them.

His greatest hits CD is one of my favorites.

I may pick that up as well; not everything I like of his is on Night and Day, obviously.

Much as I liked Jackson's other music as it got airplay, the album that I had to own (finally found a copy on CD a few years ago) was BIG WORLD.

I've heard some cuts off that on radio hidebound (http://www.radiohidebound.com/) and haven't made up my mind yet.
