Avoiding the faceplant

This has been a long and not entirely pleasant afternoon, since the antibiotics are now in full effect, and we all know what that means. Yup, that's right...I'm sitting here in my cube desperately trying to remain awake and perfecting my kovar skills. Gyaaa. I hope Monday doesn't bring a full course of amoxicillin extending through AD weekend, or ye Chief Wombat will be soggy and extremely hard to light. This will be double plus ungood, to say the least.

I was appalled to discover last night that my right leg had swollen to the point where I had to use the flap and velcro instead of the zipper to close the cuff, but I did it and got squeezed for an hour before peeling the sleeves off and crashing hard. I woke up at 0530 and did it again, noting that either I'd gotten the wrong sleeves on my legs last night or the swelling had gone down (maybe both) but in any case the sleeves fit better. More squeezing and sleep ensued, following which I actually got up. Oh, sweet Jesus, my legs hurt. Even the morning dose of ibuprofen only sufficed to take the edge off, and it wasn't until I got to work and took some Tylenol that I stopped wanting to whimper. More of the same tonight. Yay.


Apparently there's going to be a new relaxicon in these parts next May, Ba-Con. Judging from these comments on windelina's LJ, it's a spinoff of Convergence in the same way (and for a lot of the same reasons) that Conspiracy is a spinoff of Marscon. Ah, well. I don't know any of the people involved in it, at least not that I'm aware of, and given my health and wealth I doubt I'll be getting involved in any new conventions anyway. The ones I'm doing now are quite enough to ruin my health and drive me into bankruptcy as it is if I'm not careful.

The weekend is already packed with fun. Convergence concom tomorrow afternoon, followed immediately by AD security, and the last pre-convention staff meeting on Sunday, which will be preceded by an ATC board meeting. Somewhere in there, I need to deal with laundry.

Thanks. I was thrashing around looking for that quote from St. John about human perversity "...what I should do, I do not..." and all that, which would have been totally appropriate here, but couldn't find it. So long as I remember to keep hitting the cuffs and trying to get in at least some walking every day I'll be okay, but I really can't afford to slack off on it the way I've been doing.

I'll be better by then one way or another. Besides, when was the last time you actually saw me run? Seriously, though, I do have to circulate and see how things are going. It's my job, y'know?
