Planning ahead

wombat_socho I haven't had much to say on here or over at the Substack this past month, which isn't to say I haven't been busy, I just got out of the habit of writing things down.
So: first of all, a very belated AAR on Son of Silvercon. It mostly went well, except that we couldn't cover the charges for two of the smaller function rooms that we'd contracted for. Fortunately the hotel wrote it off, but for that and a couple of other reasons having to do with the hotel's location, we opted to go back to the Best Western Plus on St. Rose in Henderson, where we started. The function space and the rooms are cheaper, and I think we might just stay there for a few years unless we get explosive growth that forces us to move back to the Plaza or maybe Palace Station. I'm going to start earlier on reaching out to CCSD and the county libraries, so we'll see what comes of that.
Part of the financing for SoS3 came from Rapid Cash, and considering their high interest rates I paid off the $1000 principal ASAP, taking it out of the August SSDI check. This meant living a very austere life for the rest of the month, though I did scrape enough money together to get down to Las Vegas for a couple of VA appointments and get the reimbursement money into PenFed so I could buy groceries, do laundry, etc.
And here we are in September. I have the NSSAB meeting next week with a pulmonary appointment the following morning to replace my old nose hose, and then the following week I'll be going back to get the claws trimmed and calluses ground down.
The draft in Pete's league for the 1974 season will be on the 27th, which gives me most of the month to think hard about who I want to draft. My infield is pretty much set, so I need some corner outfielders who can hit, another starting pitcher, and a closer. I'm sure there'll be some decent outfielders in the draft, and I think Blue Moon Odom will probably not get taken in the first or second rounds. After that, who knows?
Last but not least, because I am an idiot who doesn't learn from past mistakes, I'm going to drive up to Minnesota for Anime Fusion and to seetroika and pick up some stuff from the ex on my way back. I figure I can pay for the hotels and gas out of what I save by not renting a car.
