He's not kidding. RTWT.
This is not an election on November 2. This is a restraining order. Power has been trapped, abused and exploited by Democrats. Go to the ballot box and put an end to this abusive relationship. And let’s not hear any nonsense about letting the Democrats off if they promise to get counseling.

Date: 2010-10-24 01:38 am (UTC)I also think you underestimate the extent to which the Tea Party has put the wind up the traditional, go along to get along RINO branch of the GOP. Several people in that crowd are looking for new jobs after the primaries this year, and Murkowski's no cinch to hold onto "Daddy's seat" as a write-in. There are going to be a lot of GOP freshmen who owe their jobs to the TPM, and they're not likely to forget it. So I think there's going to be some changes, because the TPM won't hesitate to go after Boehner and McConnell (among others) if they start acting "bipartisan" out of an urge to "get something done". Better to get nothing done than pass more crap like we got this year from the 111th Congress, God rot them.

Date: 2010-10-24 03:45 am (UTC)As to kevin leaning on the crutch of the Tea Party, as a thrid party kind of guy here, who was a registered libertarian until the state of maryland one year (a presidential one even) FORGOT that there was such a thing and simply did not put anyone who was not a DEM or GOP into the voter rolls..... yeah that was nice.... anyway, as a real third party person, the wombat is WAY WAY WAY out in front of reality here - we do not know if the TP people are going to have ANY effect whatsoever on the mainline GOP - and this is the same GOP who was in before the DEMS got in, and who was batshit insane and just as out of control as they claim that the DEMs are now.
Seriously, voting for the GOP on the basis that the Tea Party magic has somehow changed them from the group of principle-less steal everything and spend like there is no tomorrow goons that they were into.... anything else..... well, the jury is out on that, but if vegas were laying odds I know what the line would look like. You have got to be kidding. Might happen, bit pigs, flight, hell, snowballs, all sorts of stuff might happen. I harbor serious reservations, and if the TP guys DON'T cause a lot of change, look who we have back in power! The guys we tossed out 4 years ago for a laundry list of offenses - elect the GOP and this time maybe we can go after Iran - yeah, Iraq is winding down, our boys in green need another hill (dune) to take - and I am sure that I can drum up some sort of national interests to justify a war - I mean, look at the masterful job they did with Iraq!
Yeah, I want those guys running things. NOT.

Date: 2010-10-26 02:41 pm (UTC)On the TP, I don't doubt the sincerity of the participants - that is where the DEMs are incorrect in much of their criticism - its a bunch of people who really do believe that what they want the nation to be like, and what they believe in, is being squandered and destroyed. And from my point of view, they are correct in that. All that bad IS happening, but not just for the reasons that they think that it is...
BUT to think that they, and the few people who they are going to get elected, even with "swing votes" are going to change the GOP even one degree off it the heading of its choice is just wishful thinking, in my opinion. I think that the GOP is moving in ever more conservative directions, which for ME is just fine - they stopped being a group that I can be part of a long time back - so that opens the middle for some real third party to get in here, and govern not to the far far right or the far far left but to what works.
