wombat_sochoHow do I like Joel Rosenberg? Quite aside from his Metzada Mercenary Corps stories (see Not For Honor and Hero) and his hard work on behalf of the concealed-carry permit law here in Minnesota, he makes even the trite "D&D players get stranded in the magical world" plots work and work well.
The "Guardians of the Flame" series has been out for some years, but like Allan Cole & Chris Bunch's "Sten" series, I was a while in getting around to them. Oy, were they worth the wait! So far I've read the first three books in the series (2, 3 and 1, in that order) and a sequel to the main series, Not Quite The Three Musketeers, and all of them are well written, with a touch of mordant humor that's too often missing from this subdivision of the sword & sorcery genre.
Just in time for the resumption of bus riding.
