I don't think this test was very well put together - any test that grades me out as 42% Anarchist and 33% Socialist and Democrat very definitely has some bugs in the methodology. I did get zeros for Nazi, Communist and Green, so at least the stupid test got something right. One of these days I need to sit down and finish my essay on Falangist Libertarianism, if only for the benefit of chebutykin, who apparently mistook me for a pure Libertarian. Close, but no cigar.

I'm not saying he's a personal role model or anything, but in the context of Spain in the 1930s and 1940s his accomplishments in winning the Civil War and staying out of the Second World War are nothing less than stunning. You have to remember that the various groups that made up the Nationalist rebellion hated each other only slightly less than they did the Republic they were fighting to overthrow, and that in the beginning Franco wasn't even considered one of the main movers and shakers. Nonetheless, he managed to outwit and outmaneuver his fellow generals, the politicians of the Falange, the Catholic party. and the Carlist monarchists to beomce undisputed Head of State. Not bad for a guy whose own contemporaries consistently thought of as a dull and colorless functionary, you have to admit.
