Even the streets get rearranged

Got up, got out, got to the laundromat - and found it was packed full of people with all the washers in use. Damn. Quickly headed for the Pilgrim Laundry over by the New Century and found an empty 30-pound washer. Big win. Managed to get everything washed and dried (well, mostly - there were a couple of items that are going to need some time on hangers) and made it over to the Sheraton for the Convergence meeting only ten minutes late...make that 50 minutes early. Oh, well.
davedujour and the Gaming head (who I don't know, sorry) were the only other folks there, but people did trickle in and eventually the meeting got underway.
As usual, the Convergence staff got a lot done. Lots of information put out, lots of people introduced, lots of stuff worked out.
thaadd and I have acquired a new sub-head who will do the understudy thing this year and probably replace me next fall when I head east. We were aware that we needed somebody, but there was some unnecessary drama on our part since
petsnakereggie forgot to specify on the agenda that he was looking for a programming cohead for 2008 and the staff list didn't have me listed in Programming. Drama llama was quickly slain and we moved on. After the meeting there was a mailing party, and that went quickly as well. I hit the Cub for some groceries on the way home and that was the extent of the running around today.
I don't think most people on the Convergence concom were aware that I was just a short-term replacement for
michaellee (there I go assuming everyone reads my LJ again *rolls eyes*) because a number of folks came up and expressed surprise that I was leaving after the 2007 convention. What can I say? They only know me through Convergence, which means they really don't know me that well, and it wasn't really the time or place to go into all the wretched details of why I have to get OUT of here.
No writing tonight. My brain feels like it's full of mud, I'm kind of tired, and I think I'm going to go to bed early.
Currently re-reading David Drake's The Far Side Of The Stars and Heinlein's Starship Troopers, the latter of which is a trade PB on loan from the county library.
