So I headed over to Walmart for some infrastructure investment, and blew about $80 on various household supplies including a multimedia shelf and a three-shelf bookshelf (I am weak and can't lift the five-shelf one) which accounted for about 2/3 of the bill. Spent the rest of the afternoon playing EVE and tidying up the kitchen a bit, and am going to go out to haul in the shelves from the Sportage before heading out to Ashburn to do dinner with P and get the copy of Quicksilver that she forgot to bring to breakfast yesterday.
CCP needs to seriously rethink supercapital ships - in fact, they need to rethink the whole balance of power when it comes to fleet combat, because right now capital ships have gotten way too powerful and are making it impossible for anyone to achieve strategic objectives. Basically, you can plop three Titans down in a system, bubble the gates, and nobody is going to be able to take that system for love nor money, especially if you hold enough sovereignty in the system to put up a cynojammer, which keeps dreadnoughts, carriers and other Titans from jumping into the system. (None of those can use jump gates.) So the Great Southern War has basically ground to a halt, with a lot of Goons having gone off to ride bikes, Red Alliance suffering from internal political problems, and TCF doing whatever it is they do between bouts of furious action. Mercenary Coalition, having switched sides once too often, is being slowly beaten to death by BoB while Goons and others point and laugh; BRUCE, which looked for a month or two like it might be the next Goonswarm, is now in failure cascade; IAC likewise seems to have fallen apart after the exposure of its main warlord Tyrrax Thorrk as a member of the widely-despised griefing corp Guiding Hand Social Club and his consequent expulsion. As if that weren't enough trouble, Tyrrax apparently pissed off Evil Thug, leader of AAA (the Russian anarchist alliance) and AAA set their longtime allies in IAC red as a result.
Me? I pulled all my important stuff (blueprints, mainly) out of Delve this weekend and am currently sitting in Scalding Pass trying to decide if I want to get involved in some Foreign Legion action up north, where the rape/welp equation is heavily weighted to the former, or just sit around building a pile of isk while I train my main up to being able to handle T2 stuff. I'm sure some big announcement is forthcoming but can't imagine what it might be.
Haven't seen Iron Man yet; I hear mixed reviews about it. Been spending most of my down time rereading John Ringo's first four Posleen War novels and the new David Drake novel, since I'm kind of burned out on A Savage War of Peace and am seriously reconsidering whether I really want to get stuck into The Black Book of Communism.
Surprisingly, I haven't been worrying about the work situation. If he hires me, that'll be good; if he decides to keep me on as a temp, that'll be good too. We'll see what happens tomorrow, I'm sure.
