You would think after several misadventures involving combinations of dairy products and sugar that I would have learned to avoid milkshakes, but nope.

Thursday began pretty well. I got to the VA around 1000, which gave me just enough time to turn the Kia over to the valet, scarf up some eggs, hash, sausage, hash browns & a biscuit in the canteen before my wound care appointment. This time they did a full four-layer wrap, which almost forced me to get some temporary shoes from prosthetics, but it managed to fit inside my normal shoes. Then I was off to Maverik on Tropical for a Dr. Pepper and a G-card, only to find that they were out of G-cards. Got on the 15, went down to Everything Medical for bandage scissors and more toothbrushes than I really wanted (I bought one and they gave me a dozen) and then next door to the former Real Donuts for a couple of cake doughnuts and a blueberry burrito.

Back to the Plaza, knocked off the bloggage, then got a hideously expensive roast beef sub from the Subway in the food court before deciding to just take a taxi to the NSSAB meeting instead of going out to the ramp and dealing with the heat and stress from driving in same. Meeting was tedious but thankfully ended a little early, so I caught an Uber to the CFA on Rancho and got my usual order but added a peach milkshake.

By the time I got back to the hotel I was exhausted, so I just took my meds and went to bed, where I tossed and turned until Carlos woke me up around 0900 to let me know Aunt Corinne had died and that her funeral will be August 4, which means that after my appointment with Dr, K on the first I get to keep driving south and east. I briefly considered flying out, but best case it's $300 round trip, and I want to hang out with Carlos and the dogs for a couple days anyway.

Got up at 1000, packed everything and cleared the room by 1100, and went to the Omelet House for a large breakfast, probably larger than I really should have had considering the heat, but what's done is done. Back to Maverick for gas (with a 20-cent discount out of nowhere!), a Fresca, and the G-card off my app, then to Sonic on Craig for fluids, and then it was time to GTFO of Vegas and its 113-degree temperatures. Had thought about stopping at Walmart or Sam's Club for sandwich meats, cheeses, and starch components, but the heat was hot and the idea of getting out of the car and its AC made me nauseous. Didn't stop until I got to Beatty, at which point the peach milkshake caused a very liquid shit; I made it to the toilet at the jerky stand just in time. Had to stop again in Goldfield at the tourist office, ditto, and finally made it home around 1730 where it was an almost cool 88 degrees.

Went to bed around 1900, slept until 0300, then got up to do a catchup blog. Going to nap now; later, I'll hit the post office, NSB, and maybe Raley's.

Better liquid than a solid log the width of a baseball bat, right?

Oh right right you aren't part of Team Bidet, and anyways it'd be too troublesome to use one on the road
