Willis Carrier invents the air conditioner. Glenn Reynolds is right that what was good for the south (and the Plains States, imao) was bad for Congress. I say we should go back to the original representation ratios for the House and force them to meet in RFK...and anyone proposing to dome the old heap would be shot out of hand.

Also, Claire McCaskill (D-Mo) needs a new job outside of Congress. Well, she will next year, at the rate she's making friends and influencing people. (Instapundit)

Edit: Also also, Walter Cronkite is dead. JPod isn't singing the blues and neither am I..."the passing of Walter Cronkite is a moment to remember an era that has passed, an era toward which we should not experience a moment’s nostalgia." Word.

I disagree with you about Cronkite. Any man who was a combat correspondent through Normandy /and/ Market Garden, deserves to have some blues sung to him.

To echo [livejournal.com profile] fsf_rapier, you earn a reputation from covering things like D-Day and Market Garden. You piss it away by lying about Tet. I understand what you're saying, but can't agree.

Good job regurgitating the Wikipedia article (http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/82100/). You're entitled to your opinion.

He earned some props, but he lost a lot of my respect when "the most trusted man in America" told the country that the war in Vietnam was lost during the Tet Offensive.
As an experienced combat correspondent, he should have known better.
