Apr. 29th, 2006 12:48 pmI read Ann Coulter for the same reason (I suspect) leftists listen to Al Franken: they're over-the-top bomb throwers, and sometimes those people are funny. This week, however, she hit the nail on the head:
Not that there aren't "moderate" Republicans who aren't guilty of the same things (yeah, Norm, I'm looking at you) but hardcore environmentalism isn't a central part of the GOP ethos. Ann goes on to mention the perennial Democrat fascination with higher energy taxes, especially during the Clinton administration, and its results at the polls.
I would be more interested in what the Democrats had to say about high gas prices if these were not the same people who refused to let us drill for oil in Alaska, imposed massive restrictions on building new refineries, and who shut down the development of nuclear power in this country decades ago.
