Reason magazine has finally discovered Prince Pickles, the excessively-kawaii mascot of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. Anyone know if the Prince's diary has been translated into English yet? anyone else think it would be amusing to see if we could get the Japanese military attache on a panel at the next Detour to talk about the Prince and the portrayal of the JSDF in anime & manga?

Also found while Googling: a whole raft of ROK army branch mascots, any one of which looks like it could give the Prince a rough time even with one claw tied behind its back. Via ROKDrop, which facetiously declares, "Rest easy Korea, Dokdo is still safe..."
