wombat_socho: (Tonopah)
Weight went up a few ounces from yesterday, but BG was almost normal and BP was normal. So I have that going for me.

Checked in with Anne & Elizabeth about the weekend shift, housing, etc. Found out the Saturday shift was a mistake and they are still working on housing, and I responded okay, I'll cultivate patience.

I am experimenting with the morning flax muffins; while in Pahrump I picked up a couple boxes of GV Instant Oatmeal and am nuking a bowl before mixing it in with the rest of the ingredients. It changes the taste a little, for the better, and I think the oats are helping with sugar control as well as keeping hunger at bay a little longer. This evening I nuked a bag of mixed veggies and threw it in with a bowl of Raley's wild rice soup. It was good. The mate supply is getting low, but USPS assure me that the new bag (Canarias this time) made it from Chicago to LA and arrived in Las Vegas today, so the chances are good that it'll show up this week before I shuffle up the road to Reno. Interestingly, when I checked out the route to my most likely lodgings, it was faster to go through Fallon to Reno than my usual route through Yerington. Since there are more options to stop and nibble in Fallon anyway, I'll probably wind up going that way.

E-mail from Barb said they weren't going to reimburse me for both nights in Pahrump since the meeting started at 1600; I allowed as how it was possible I could have driven straight down from Tonopah to the meeting but wouldn't have been worth much on arrival. So it goes. The per diem and mileage still add up to a little over $400, which will be useful, and I approved the travel voucher, which if things go as usual will be paid this week or (worst case) early next week, but DOE is pretty prompt about coughing up the money for these things.

Larry Correia's Second Amendment book is out tomorrow, and I think I'll pick it up.
