I don't have a lot to say about where I was on 9/11 or how I reacted to it. I was too busy trying to stay functional in the wake of the Shittiest Year Ever to really dwell on it; all I really remember was fielding a call from my daughter, who along with my son had the dubious pleasure of watching it live and in color on CNN at the high-tech high school they were attending at the time. My mother also called; she lived within a couple of miles of the Pentagon and heard the explosion as the plane hit. Dad, of course, was already dead.

I do remember being vaguely surprised and annoyed when my boss came around shortly after lunch to tell me that we were closing up early; there was some concern that there were still airliners unaccounted for, and possibly one of them might be headed for downtown Minneapolis.

As I say, though, I wasn't myself at the time, and was working through the day just to reach the night, as they say in Holy Mother Russia, and that only by dint of antidepressants and a dogged cultivation of apathy.

So, while I have had other things to say about the War On Terror elsewhere, all I can really say about 9/11 is - move along. There's nothing to see here.
