This is intended for those of you who helped out with our move a couple of months back.

I suppose it was inevitable. The management company from the old apartment sent the $1900 bill they claim we owe them out to a collection agency, and I told the agency what I told management: we'll see you in court. Hopefully they'll wise up and realize that they're not in a very good position to jerk us around, considering they threw out a couple grand worth of our stuff from storage, but if not there's a possibility that I might need some of you to do me a favor and either serve as witnesses or do some depositions. Hope it doesn't come to that, but these people are kinda squirrelly.

Did you take pictures when you moved out?

Last winter (November) I sued my old landlord in small claims court. In the end, it was the photos that did it. Being well dressed, never interupting the judge, having your shit in order, and 'giving a little' will go far towards making things go your way. (not that I know the details of this, this is just general observations)

Sadly, no...we were just trying to get all our stuff out of there and didn't think to take pix. On the other hand, most of the moving party was made up of fairly solid, upright-looking members of the community, so I'm hoping numbers of witnesses count for something.
