From Gettysburg to Durdane

wombat_sochoI finished Gettysburg and am now reading The Asutra, which is the third book of Jack Vance's Durdane trilogy. I originally read the series from the inside out, having found The Brave Free Men in a pair of F&SF issues that I salvaged from the base library on Andrews AFB, and if memory serves me correctly I didn't read the other parts of it until I came across them in Lois' books, as she was a big fan of Vance. Like much of Vance's work, it's aged well.
Woke up very late today on account of not falling asleep until 0500/0600 and having that sleep interrupted by scammers. I suspect part of what kept me awake was an excess of carbs, as I had baked beans and brats last night for dinner followed by a couple of Drumstick cones. I suppose I should be grateful that I didn't get the squirts from the ice cream. Did laundry tonight, so dinner was the crispy chicken salad and wings at the Stage Stop. Going to crash in a bit since I plan to get up at 0700, have the usual breakfast of flax muffin and coffee, and finish packing for the drive to Las Vegas tomorrow. Hopefully since I don't have to pack a lot I can be on the road by 0900, all the more so since the wound care clinic called to ask me to be there by 1430 instead of the 1500 appointment time. I suspect they just want to leave early.
