I finally made it over to Coffee Cauldron after much noodging by daughter and various other people, and had a pretty good time in spite of losing my Cardinal Ratzinger Fan Club mug somewhere along the line (it turned up at the MTC lost and found, fortunately) and the appalling service at Baker's Square afterward. Don't know if I'll make a habit of attending; it tends to run rather late, and I've been getting little enough sleep as it is. Still, it does allow me to see Karl & Joella more often than I normally do without having to drive to the other end of 494, and that's a good thing. Also saw and talked to some other folks I know or recognize from AD staff and CONvergence, so it wasn't just a friends and family thing.

So what's a Catholic like me doing at a pagan get-together? Being social, is all. I think Karl and my daughter would have liked to see some people get provoked, but since I misplaced the mug and was unable to scrawl the title post on my iced coffee cup, that just wasn't on. I dunno...I'm not ashamed of who or what I am (quite the contrary), but on the other hand I don't make a habit of going out of my way to cause problems, either, so this "Let's you and him argue!" business doesn't really thrill me. I have the CRFC mug because I like the former head of the Inquisition and think he's done a good job, unlike some other Princes of the Church. Plus, I find the idea of the former Grand Inquisitor having a fan club, and belonging to said fan club, amusing and wholly appropriate for an orthodox guy like me.

This morning has been kind of slow and low on work. Bleh.

Representin' for the Old School, of course. (Most of these pagan sects have only been around since the 1950s, after all.) And being social. ^^

It occurs to me that if even one of the Catholic parishes up here were even half this social, things would have turned out very differently for me up here. I wouldn't feel so much like a lone wolf, at any rate.

Indeed! I wonder how much it would cost to gussy up a mug with that icon [livejournal.com profile] marainsanity has of you guys doing the Spanish Inquisition bit at CONvergence and add "NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!" in suitably gothic script. Hmmm.
