Date: 2008-09-12 04:27 am (UTC)Normally I enjoy discussing and debating with people I'm friendly with on the Left. I know they won't change their minds, they aren't going to change mine, but many times we do temper each other and clarify the reasoning behind our beliefs.
Much of the rhetoric I've heard and a lot of the rabid rumor-mongering I've seen has taken the enjoyment out of that excersize.
In order to remain friendly in the future, when this is all over and it becomes obvious that the "PDS" is nothing but a spectre, then I will still be able to be friendly with my friends on the Left and not say something now out of sheer frustration that might lead to a larger arguement.
