You know, the live action versions of most anime really suck. (Well, Great Teacher Onizuka is supposed to be the exception to that, but I haven't seen it.) So I'm not too enthused over the notion of seeing a live-action version of Sailor Moon...on the one hand, it's supposed to star Lindsay Lohan in the lead role (WTF?) but on the other hand Fox wants Joss Whedon to do the scripts. You'd think Jessica Simpson would be ideal as Usagi; she certainly has the airheadedness down, by all accounts, although expecting people to believe she's 16 might be a bit hard on the ol' suspension of disbelief.

Via Don McClane, through Chizumatic @1330, 4/20. Den Beste also talks about "ghost characters" in kanji, which is interesting.

Whaaaaaat? 1) There already IS a live action version of Sailor Moon and it was just as bad/good as the original. (Not to mention the occasional live action musical.) 2) Joss Whedon just might be crazy enough to do it with the right people in it and behind it, but this does not sound like one of those situations. 3) WTF America? This is just like the time you kept threatening to make a DBZ live action movie here and then didn't.

GTO live action is high class entertainment though. Personally I enjoy it a lot more than the anime or manga. Gokusen live action is the same way for me too. I've heard good things about the Kimagure Orange Road live action as well but haven't seen either the anime or the show yet.

1) I knew there was a Japanese live action version. This would apparently be a Fox TV project, done in America in Engrish -er, English. ^_^;;;;

2) I'm just going by what this guy had in the article, but i don't find it totally implausible that Fox would want Whedon on board a project like this. I'm sure they're thinking "anime fanboys + Whedon fanboys = $$$$$!!!11!!!!"

3) So it's a rumor...I like it better than the last live action Sailor Moon rumor, back when Haim Saban was supposed to be turning them into the Power Rangers only with wheelchairs. Or something.

Yeah, I'm not accusing you of not knowing or anything. Just noting that this would be dumb and repetative to make another. Did I meantion also that it would be dumb?

The last Saban live action rumor wasn't really a rumor. I have the promotional video to proove it. One of the scouts was disabled. Thank god it never came into being.

No, no, I didn't take it that way at all.

Just noting that this would be dumb and repetative to make another. Did I meantion also that it would be dumb?

Yeah, but...but...but...it's Joss Whedon. Just think of how cool it would be to have James Marsters playing Zoisite! Especially if David Boreanaz was Kunzite! Think of the subtext! :D

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing the promotional video. Oog, that was bad.
