Also, maybe I used the wrong metaphor here. I'm not saying she/they're stupid, just that they really haven't thought the implications of that cute little slogan out.

How so? They obviously support the troops, yet want them home.

Because (and this isn't just my take, but that of a lot of milbloggers, many of whom have done time in the Sandbox and/or Afghanistan) if you don't support the mission, then you're saying what the troops are doing is wrong, and this undercuts morale. It's like giving with one hand and taking away with the other, yahmeen?

I understand that, but in his words, there are a lot of troops in Iraq that don't agree with the mission. They're outnumbered by quite a bit, to be certain, but if troops themselves are against (at least the Iraq) the mission, how do people on the homefront do more to undermine morale?

The soldiers and guardsmen I know that DO support the Iraq mission are pretty fervent, they don't seem to be harmed.

I don't think it's a matter of doing more, I think it's a matter of adding to the existing burden. All wars have had some people on the home front who didn't think it was a good idea, but Vietnam and Iraq II were the first wars since the Civil War that have seen this much virulent opposition, and it's not good for the troops.

Thanks. I found it on the Traveller RPG community and decided it fit military topics better than the Master Chief icon.
