So after buying all those cold & flu meds yesterday, I decided to just rely on painkillers from here on out. Whatever's afflicting me, it's not clogging my sinuses, so the decongestants really aren't doing much for me. Got Valerie to bring up my laundry from the basement and eventually give her a lift to the grocery store, where she shopped for herself and Mom and managed to ring up a $97 tab. Oy.

I didn't get over to the hospital to visit my friend Richard today, but considering that I'm still struggling with the Swedish Death Flu that wasn't really a good idea anyway. We'll see if I feel well enough to go to the last Nationals game at RFK tomorrow.

For the benefit of P and RS: some background on the Jena mess.

The first link has a good succinct review of the situation; everyone's behavior in this case (including Delegate Norton's and the DA's) has been pretty reprehensible.

The Baldilocks link includes a part where he refers to Star Simpson as OJ's daughter, which is just plain wrong. OJ doesn't have a 19 year old daughter, and Star is from Hawaii. As you know I'm pretty pro-LE, but it seems that the Stupid Boston Cop Trifecta is now in play. The guys with the LED signs last winter should have been charged with littering (and creating a nuisance, ha!). Star should have been questioned and charged with... nothing. The really dumb part of this the histrionic press conferences from the cops when "We investigated, the device was harmless, no criminal intent, nothing to see here" would have sufficed.

Yeah, in the comments she says she was just joking about Star being OJ's daughter. (Same amount of brainpower, evidently.) Glad you found Balko's summary for the Blogfather useful.
