So CONvergence is over, I got the volunteer T-shirt (again) plus the fabulous limited edition off-budget CONsuite "FYFIF" T-shirt, which I actually feel more grateful for since I worked harder for it and still owe the Perfect Mistress of Consuite Operations hours...but she knows I'm good for it, since I love working with the Consuite Goon Squad as well as Deb, EV and the subheads whose names I am too tired to remember at this point. Much volunteering was done, to the point where it interfered with actual fun (I MISSED THE RAKEHELL'S 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY, DAMMIT!) but since I'm one of those weird and twisted individuals who actually enjoys badging and doing dispatch in Ops (shoutout to Tae from AD who was my comm officer on Saturday) the actual fun level was high enough to not make me feel too bad about missing all the panels and anime and room parties that I had been half-heartedly thinking about going to.

The Anime Detour room party was bigger and better than the Marscon version, since we had the Room Party Kit ready to roll (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] stuckintraffik, with an assist from Karl) just in time for the 8 PM Friday opening. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tokenfanboy for getting the posters printed and taped up, to say nothing of getting the registration flyers produced and printed and also posting some of his pictures from AD2004. We had tons of pocky and pop and perverted pudding-like thingies and pulp jelly candies, showed a lot of AMVs (which drew people) and Invader Zim, which didn't. Thus we progress along the learning curve. [livejournal.com profile] phoenixalpha also helped a lot by assisting with the schleppage of things to and from the Sportage on Thursday and Monday, while [livejournal.com profile] tokenfanboy and [livejournal.com profile] tjstriker cleared the room on Sunday morning.

I wish Monday had gone as well as the rest of the weekend, though. Woke up late and missed the chance to help finish the consuite loadout, had to pass on the usual morning shower since the tub had some nasty backflow, struggled to get everything packed into the Sportage with minimal help from [livejournal.com profile] phoenixalpha since she had overtaxed all her muscles the previous day helping [livejournal.com profile] stuckintraffik reenact Bridge over the River Kwai with Security Chief Josh in the role of Toshiro Mifune. Seriously, though, I gather the move was a tough one and they probably could have used more help, but then [livejournal.com profile] phoenixalpha and I would both have been useless on Monday. We managed to get all the pocky, pop & other food up to the apartment (we can't keep it in storage since the agreement bars food items) and then drove out to Apple Valley to stash the Room Party Kit and the other non-food things that we didn't stick [livejournal.com profile] tokenfanboy with.

Headed home, stopped for a haircut and mustache trim at Great Clips, thought about doing lunch at Famous Dave's and decided not to since [livejournal.com profile] phoenixalpha and I had started the day by pillaging the Sheraton's breakfast buffet. Yes, it was every bit as good as I remember it from the old Sheraton Park in Washington. More convention stuff later.
