Apr. 7th, 2005 01:34 pmJohn Derbyshire of National Review has penned a dolorous reflection on the reign of John Paul II, considering the late Pope to be a reactionary rearguard against the materialist hedonism he sees as being responsible for the decline of Catholicism in the West. Derbyshire expects the future predicted in Aldous Huxley's famous dystopia Brave New World to come about eventually, since people willingly accept the hedonistic paradise it offers as a better alternative to normal life with all its aches and pains and illness.
