people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

One of them plays blues guitar in New York.
One of them is a Shakespearian actor who has appeared in Hellboy.
One of them swims for the University of Maine.
One of them is a religion professor at the University of Vermont specializing in the study of Buddhism.

The fellow who was sports information director at the University of Arkansas seems to have slipped out of the front pages of Google. Oh well. None of these others are related to me, oddly enough, and the only one I've ever talked to is the fellow at UA.

Normally I have a modicum of respect for the fellow, but this is just stupid. I don't recall the name of the fallacy off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's a name for the argument "I have these qualities, and I am a [political tendency]; therefore all people with these qualities are [political tendency]." (Jane Galt). I'm quite a slob -in fact, it's one of the reasons I couldn't re-enlist back in 1983-, and I got over my fear of death some decades ago when I decided to take up tactical ECM work as a career. The rest of the attributed qualities in that list are crap as well. I think there are things you can generalize about WRT socialists and conservatives, but I don't think personal characteristics work.

I'm trying to make up my mind what kind of head cover (if any) I should get to help me muddle through this last winter in Minnesota. Marshall's has some furry-looking ear flap hats which look like they should be quite warm and maybe large enough to stuff my headphones under, but they're almost certainly more expensive than the Thinsulate watch caps I saw at Menard's. Of course, I could just be hardcore and wear my Nationals baseball cap. What do you think, f-list peeps?
