A day of rest

Absolutely nothing planned for today. I'm going to stay in, put my feet up, and do some baking, I think.

The egg nog bread has an almost too subtle flavor, and probably would have been better if I'd thrown in a shot of brandy in lieu of the rum flavoring the recipe called for (which I didn't have). The result is something like delicately-flavored pound cake, which isn't a bad thing at all. Cutting back the sugar to half what the recipe called for worked okay.

Wow, this is harsh...

...but well-deserved flak for the iPhone. I knew there was DRM software in the iPod, but didn't realize it was even worse in the iPhone - or that the record companies themselves had asked Apple to drop it. WTF? I wasn't going to get one anyways, since I already have the TX if I want to listen to music*, but this makes me want to evangelize against the damn thing. Besides, $599 is way too much for a cell phone anyway. It ain't like the Enterprise is on the other end of the line. (Instapundit)

*On top of that, the damn thing is locked into the Cingular network, from which I want to get free the minute my contract expires and never go back.

Also on Boing Boing, word that Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are being inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Works for me. There's always been a lot of crossover between the two music genres, and for that matter I have both Kid Rock and Public Enemy in the Rock folder of my WMP. Article has a link to a video of the crushin' rap "The Message", which is worth seeing and hearing even after all these years. Quite a change from Kurtis Blow.
