I see the suits at CBS threw Don Imus under the bus. This doesn't surprise me; any white guy in the public eye who screws up like he did routinely gets whacked, whether they're Jimmy the Greek, Don Imus or Rush Limbaugh. (Who was right about the media and Donovan McNabb, BTW, but he gets tarred with the same brush as Imus, so there you are.) It also doesn't surprise me that rappers who say far worse things about black women are given a pass. I mean, they're just rappin' about bitches and hos, right? Uh-huh.

Jason Whitlock and Cobb are absolutely right: if the media are going to make Imus walk the plank, they ought to be sending Fiddy, Snoop Dogg, and Little Jeezy right out after him. Don't even start thinking this is a uniquely black problem, either, considering that most of the suits running Interscope and its parent company Vivendi are white as Wonder bread and a big part of the market for gangsta rap is trustafarian wannabees and suburban whiggers. More than the urban legend about the CIA and crack, I sometimes think this is what the Nation of Islam is talking about when they complain about the white devils keeping them down. You have to admit, considering the screwed-up mess created by inner city schools, the destruction of urban black families as collateral damage from the War on Poverty, and the self-destructive memes pushed by Interscope's rappers, they might have a legitimate gripe.

Actually, no, not if I can help it.

I am feeling better today, which is nice (and a little surprising) considering how crappy I felt last night after going out to the laundromat for a long-overdue laundry expedition. The cellulitis is still a little stiff and sore, but the swelling is way down and it doesn't feel any warmer than the rest of my leg.

Fortunately I can take it fairly easy this weekend, since for once there's no AD or Convergence stuff taking up my time. I'll do some badly needed cleaning up around the apartment but otherwise I'm just going to take it easy; if [livejournal.com profile] redmartel is up for it, I'll get most of the registration stuff out of the Sportage and into the storage locker where it belongs, but that'll probably be as much out and aboutness as I'm going to be up for.
