friday morning footcare update

( I think this makes me officially old )

Didn't do much yesterday. Stayed in bed and read C.J. Cherryh's Merchanter's Luck when I got tired of Drake & Stirling's The Steel. Played some Civ III. Slept a lot. Today needs to be different - I have some shopping I need to do, things around the apartment that desperately need tending to, and most of all I need to go to bed early since I have my Spanish Praxis II tomorrow morning at MCTC. Hopefully none of the panels I have with materia_indigo are on Saturday morning...

Today needs to be different - I have some shopping I need to do, things around the apartment that desperately need tending to, and most of all I need to go to bed early since I have my Spanish Praxis II tomorrow morning at MCTC. groaning into motion

Given the lack of response to the poll, I think what I'm going to do about the packing party is just run it over the four days next week before the movers are supposed to come. If you want to help, come by any time after 5 PM, grab a box, and start loading. If you have a tape gun or dispenser laying around from a previous move of your own, by all means bring it along; I have a couple around here someplace and will be getting some more from Uline or WalMart. We'll pack stuff for 3-4 hours and then I'll order in some pizza. Reload, regroup, and repeat until Friday.

Let me know in comments or e-mail if you think you'll be able to drop in for part or all of the festivities.

Well, that could have gone better. For some reason, nobody I talked to in HR during the weeks leading up to my resignation from the Evil Banking Neighbor mentioned to me that I needed to renew my 401k PIN. Maybe they did and I was already too sick for it to register...in any case, instead of getting the cash from that account early next week, it'll now be arriving later in the week, which could screw things up. I'll just take it a day at a time and try to conserve cash as best I can; worst case, I have to push everything back a couple days while I wait for the distribution check and stock certificate to arrive.

I did need the new shoes, though. Stopped at Schuler Shoes this afternoon and picked up a new pair of New Balance cross-trainers to replace the current pair, which I've hung onto for way too long already. I need to remember to trash these when the insides of the heels start to go.

So. Out for laundry and then bed, for I have a Praxis test in the morning.

I don't know why it took me so long to check back, considering that some of my favorite icons come from potterpuffs, but Naomi has some awesome art up for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows here and also here. Especially worth noting: a picture depicting the heartbreaking scene where Snape explains to Dumbledore (and, indirectly, to Harry) why he chose a doe for his Patronus, several icons that brought Chapter 33 back full force, and Molly Weasley pwnz0ring Bellatrix Lestrange. Memo to aspiring evil overlords: do not come between witches and their kids, or you too will die the true death. Also, lots of cute Luna Lovegood icons and a pic from the wedding, and some really cool Neville Longbottom icons. That kid deserved more time on stage. He kept the faith when even Harry was going wobbly, and he had BALLS.

Anyway, I'm glad to see potterpuffs active again with new & cool things up, but the reminder of the whole complicated tangle of Snape's love/hate/duty relationship with Harry and his parents makes fingernails-on-blackboard sensations in my heart. No, it doesn't make sense. It's not supposed to. I have a Spanish Praxis exam to pwn in the morning; good night.
