Well...didn't get all the stuff done that I wanted to, but at least I got some laundry done, recovered the sunglasses I left at the grocery store in Ashburn, ordered my refills, got my laundry half-done, and spent some quality time with the always-entertaining Mr. Taylor. Also got some planning done for this weekend, whose schedule is largely dependent on when one of my old friends rises from his gravebed and staggers forth to greet the day. We'll see how it all works out.

One of the shortcomings of meeting people in a mall brewpub, such as Gordon Biersch at Tysons Corner, is that they tend to be kind of loud; the other is that they tend to be expensive, at least by my standards. That having been said, the beer was apparently good (P was quite pleased with the dark beer) and the food likewise, though I'm not sure it was worth the $15-20 charged for it. It was tough for me to find something I wanted to eat on the menu, tbqh*. Like a lot of trendy joints these days, there's a hideous excess of collision cuisine among the entrees as every restaurant tries to be different and succeeds only in looking like all the other bar & grill chains out there. I tell you, if someone would just open a brewpub chain that served basic meat & potatoes entrees, I bet they'd make a few megabucks around here. At least the carrot cake was worth $5 a slice, since it was easily twice normal size and lived up to the menu hype. I shared it, so as to have mercy on my pancreas.

*The waitress' resemblance to Asia Carrera, only with short hair and a disturbing German accent**, didn't help.

**As opposed to a Disturbing Southern Accent, which in her case would have been cute and not disturbing at all.***

***Yes, I'm blathering. Going to bed now.
