wombat_socho: the mark (the mark)
I think we're finally done tweaking the Failbox, which at long last appears to be working the way it's supposed to. Didn't flash the BIOS, since there was no data port on the motherboard to plug a floppy drive into, and the primitive screwheads that assembled this POS (That would be MSI, for any of you interested in avoiding products by these scumballs) require a floppy drive to create a boot disk for the machine as part of the flash process. WTF. Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] brian_edminster changed the spacing on the SATA drives, and after two hours the box was still running okay. We hooked it up to his LAN, updated XP and Firefox, still good. So, yeah, we don't know what the hell is going on, but when I set up the Failbox in the morning I'm putting the sides back on and putting one of my Honeywell desk fans in back to help suck hot air out. We'll see what happens.

Drive home from New Market took a little longer on account of some shopping at Wal-Mart; remembered alcohol swabs and forgot sweetener.
Also had to make a move on the back roads since construction on I-270 had all but one lane southbound blocked in Germantown. Move successful even without resort to maps. :)

Everything's unpacked and put away, and I'm going to bed.
