Teeth, fluids, and a long drive home
Jun. 8th, 2022 09:23 pmMy BG numbers were good all day, perhaps because I eschewed Bad Things (well, I did have a Moon Pie at lunch) and drank an awful lot of fluids. I mean...I had an iced coffee with my breakfast from McD's, a couple of Route 44 Sprite Zeroes from Sonic after checking out, another huge Sprite Zero from Terrible's in Indian Springs, and I picked up a couple of bottles of Sprite Zero there as well. They weren't normal, but they were nominal, and that's okay.
The cleaning at the dentist's took less time than it did last month and the hygienist managed to get it done without shots. Booyah.
I probably should have fueled up at the Conoco on Lake Mead for $5.16, but instead I went to the Murphy's and paid $5.25, less 3 cents/gallon from GasBuddy. Went to Sam's Club and got sushi & ice, put the ice in the cooler and the bag (the sushi went in the bag) and then barely made it to Walmart in time to pick up my stuff. They were running way behind because of all the people doing pickup, but after panicking because I got an email saying my stuff had been delivered at 1306 (it hadn't) and contacting Corporate around 1325. the associate showed up and loaded everything into the back seat as I asked. And off I went up Durango, passing all manner of fast food joints because most of them didn't have anything cold and I didn't want anything hot.
Eventually I pulled in at the Terrible's in Indian Springs for fluids, paying rent on fluids, more ice, some chicken salad sandwiches, and a Moon Pie. Ate lunch and then hauled ass up 95. It was 106 when I left Las Vegas, and it didn't cool down hardly at all until I was up to Goldfield, where it was a more tolerable 90 when I stopped for urination at the Tourist Center before getting back on the road. By the time I got home around 1730 it was 84 or so; I lugged the pack, the bag, and the nose hose upstairs before going back for the Splenda, eggs, and cooler. Gave up on trying to get all that up the stairs and just took the Splenda and eggs up before making one last trip down the stairs for the cooler, after which I collapsed into the recliner, hydrated, and waited for my heart to quit pounding.
I scanned in the stuff from Sam's Club and ate the sushi, then I got distracted by Twitter, and then I scanned in the Walmart stuff. By then it was after 2100 and I gave up on the notion of blogging. I have a game against the O's in the morning, so I guess I'll take my pills, shots, and hie myself off to bed. Blogging and politics will have to wait until tomorrow.
