Catching up

Weight was up to 395, BP was borderline, but at least the BG was normal. Had a flax muffin and coffee for breakfast and started dealing with all the leftover stuff.

Like, for example, the blog post I was going to do last night but didn't. Got that out of the way, wrote out the rent check for October (the one I was going to drop off on my way out of town and completely forgot about) , dropped that off with Nicole, and headed downtown. Filled the hole in the NSB account with the $45 in cash I had on me, picked up stuff from the VA (urea cream, furosemide, and a pill splitter that doesn't look much brawnier than the one I have) along with a sample ballot and a letter from Martin. Did some Ingressing and stopped at the Raley's for tea, pork, cheese, and some other things, which came out to almost $30, but I had $11 in credit from Something Extra (Raley's loyalty program) so I only had to pay $18 and change.

Had a ham & cheese sandwich on multigrain and settled in to do the evening blogging. That having been done, I threw a loaf of bread in the robot, substituting 1c potato flakes and .5 cup of einkorn flour for the normal AP flour. It turned out well.  For dinner, I took a can of the wild rice soup from Raley's, dumped a bag of Asian Medley veggies in it after nuking those, and threw in a pot of chicken ramen with TVP.

I bought No Step Back for HOI4 from Steam (too late for the sale, but meh, $20 isn't going to kill me) and also Fallout 4 GOTY Edition, which was on sale for $9.99, but I returned it after seeing that it would take an estimated eight days to download & install. Decided to save up my next couple of gift cards and buy the CD version instead, even if it costs me twice as much. No Step Back downloaded quickly enough, and does indeed have some nice new options for the Soviet focus tree, but the annoying problem of the black flags persists, even after I updated the drivers for my Radeon video card as suggested. I see that I am also going to have to read up on/watch some damn video to figure out how to design tanks, as if the T-26 and BT-7 weren't good enough.

Unless something super important shows up in my mailbox tomorrow or Saturday, I'm just going to stay in, clean up around the apartment, and do my continuing education, which I've been putting off for far too long.

Weight was up a few ounces, but BG and BP were normal. Fixed eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes & English muffin for breakfast.

Spent a good part of the afternoon trying out the White Russian focus tree from NSB, and while I did manage to secure all of Siberia starting from the base in Chita thanks to the pile of free cavalry & infantry units, I am running into the familiar problem of too many Soviets and not enough rebels. Also, I don't have enough civilian factories, which is making it hard to build out the war machine. On the other hand, I do have Vladivostok and the rest of the far eastern provinces, having exterminated the Stalinist cell in Kamchatka.

What I didn't spend on HOI was spent downloading various financial statements from Fidelity and PayPal, and napping for 90 minutes before my two-game season against Oakland. Surprisingly, I swept the two-game series. Jim Kaat shut out the A's in Game 1 for his eighth win; Jim Hannan faced three batters in the 8th and Moe Drabowsky got the save after allowing one hit in the 9th. The game's sole run came on a homer from Jim Northrup. Game Two was a nailbiter. Juan Marichal pitched well, giving up only three runs in 7.2 innings, and the hitters pounded Pat Jarvis for four runs, including two homers from Cepeda and Mays, but Moe blew the save, Romo and Moore gave up a run each, and Gelnar completely shit the bed, coughing up three runs in the top of the 12th to make it 6-9. Fortunately, our hitters pounded Weaver for four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a sayonara homer by Willie Mays after Byron Browne tied it up with a three-run homer. So we're 36-72 now, with 54 games to play, and we have to win half of those to avoid a 100-loss season. Here's hoping.

Did the daily blogging, cooked up some pork chops with broccoli/carrots/cauliflower mix, and had a couple slices of bread & butter before and after.
