wombat_socho: Happy! (amused)
...the Astros pitch back-to-back no-hitters against the Phillies.

The drive to Amargosa Springs for the groundwater open house was two hours long, but it was informative, and I gained the backing of the new NSSAB chairman for my notion of reaching out to schools and anime/SF conventions to get kids interested in careers at the Test Site, or in fields related to it. Do something constructive instead of wasting time on stupid protests. Dinner afterward at El Valle was good, though I think it affected my drive back to Beatty and the Exchange Club hotel.

Despite its appearance, the  Exchange Club was pretty spiffy. In addition to the fridge and microwave, it had modern bed-top lights and very nice bedside outlets, so I didn't have to break out the Anker chargers. It's also next door to Smokin' J's, and I got there early enough to grab a half rack of ribs for a midnight snack.

Which may have been a bad idea. Despite going to sleep before 2300, I was not ready to get up at 0700 and slept in until 0930. Fueled up at the Rebel, got breakfast at the Denny's, and was still feeling ooky when I finally left Beatty at noon. I stopped a little north of Lida Junction and called in to the clerk's office to let them know I wouldn't be in, and then proceeded to head up 95 to home. Stopped at the Raley's and picked up some tea and kielbasa, and went home, where I unpacked, started the makeup blog, and around 1415 picked up some paperwork and headed down to the Vanwood Country Store to meet the Laxalt bus. It was a little late, but I got to meet and shake hands with the (hopefully) future senator from Nevada. I was surprised at how short he was - he barely came up to my shoulder, and I'm not all that tall. Anyway, everyone headed over to the Mizpah, but I had business, so I went over to NSB. Got the login info for the N3F account, but I can't open one for Friends of Fission-chan until I draft a letter giving myself authority to do so. It is what it is.

Came home, resumed work on the blog, saved it so I could lose two straight to the Giants, and then finished it before fixing dinner, which was ramen with some Chunky wild rice soup. Pitched into the regular daily linkfest after that, and wrapped it up fairly quickly.

Time to crash, perchance to sleep well and arise refreshed. One hopes.
