Podiatry and possible reimbursement
Oct. 5th, 2023 05:53 amWent down the mountain Tuesday to the Cannery, where I slept overnight before heading in to get my nails and calluses trimmed Wednesday morning before coming back that afternoon. The podiatrist and her assistant seem to think the PACT act will allow me to get reimbursement for my mileage and hotel costs, and I made an appointment on the 17th to talk to a VSO about that.
Since the Dunkin app was being contrary, I grabbed a breakfast burrito and Diet Coke at Sonic before my appointment, and afterward topped off with E15 at the Maverik. Picked up a slice of pizza but the fountain drink I got was XXL instead of XL so I didn't get that deal. Also got a pork bun, an oatmeal raisin cookie, and a couple 20 oz bottles of Diet Coke, all of which got me home without any stops along the way, in contrast to the trip down where I stopped in Beatty at the Arco/Rebel for fluids and a couple of taquitos, and again in Indian Springs for a sandwich & bathroom break. Anyway, I made it home and unloaded the car, and promptly went to bed for a 2-hour nap before getting up and doing a condensed blog post and fixing a sandwich for dinner.
Wound up eating the sandwich after I checked in at the hotel, but I was still hungry, so I went to Victory's for a plain burger and a bowl of soup. I should have skipped the fries.
Everything is pretty much ready for Son of Silvercon. I think I'll try to get the postcards printed up later today and mailed out tomorrow; we got another supporting membership from an N3F member, so that was nice. All that's left is to make a Thursday night reservation at the Strat for myself, Caitlin, and Maggie, and another reservation for the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday following. Also have to empty out the car so there's room for people and luggage.
I note in passing that yesterday I had a stray thought about improving my mindset by just dumping all the rock & pop music I have in favor of electronic & classical; today I see that over the weekend Vox had similar thoughts, if not for the same reasons. Hm.
