More changes

Stacy has a new gig as editor of Viral Read, which looks like it wants to be the conservative version of Buzzfeed. I am somewhat bemused by the news release, which seems to view smitty1e and myself as assets acquired along with Stacy; needless to say, this is the first I've heard of this, or my Navy career. I was going to wander over to CPAC Saturday night to buy Stacy a beer or two by way of congratulations, and I guess I'll hit him up for some answers.

As you may have noticed, we have a new Pope. Per my comment to digex here, I am cautiously optimistic and hoping for good things. As with the now-retired Benedict XVI, I don't think he'll do what the media want or what us reactionaries in the pews want; he will do what God thinks needs doing, and I wish him well.

I am succeeding at cash control. I'm current on my bills, have a sufficiency of groceries, and am going to stick $300 in a savings account today for Detour and other contingencies. In other matters, I haven't been very good with the diet of late, and my BG numbers reflect this; on the other hand, my right leg is very close to being completely healed, while the left leg is no worse. I think I missed my last therapy appointment, but things are going well enough that I don't think I really needed it. Probably going to go back and check in sometime later this month or early next month, work schedule permitting.

Well, at least the new Pope doesn't resemble Palpatine, so I don't think there'll be much hooting from the Internet Peanut Gallery.

BTW, I should be in D.C. on the 13th of next month for the Sakura Matsuri, but I'll have some time to kill between the time it shuts down and the time my bus home leaves; if you're up for it, wanna do the buffet thing? If push comes to shove, I can hop the Metro out to Van Dorn or something and you can get me from there. Or something like that. I dunno, this is all still in the early planning stages.

I have to admit that when it comes to Church matters, I pay the internets even less attention than I do the lamestream media, because as hard as this is to believe, I think most of the jokers who posted LOL POPE PALPATINE image macros knew even less about Catholicism than the reporters assigned to cover that beat.

April 13? Yeah, that's possible, very possible. I'll definitely be wanting to get the hell out of the tax mines by the time 5 PM rolls around.

If anything, I'll let you know; the festival ends at six, so that should give me disgusting amounts of time to get to where I need to be, lol.

And unlike Sunday night of Katsu, when I had to do blogging and go to bed fairly early so I could get to work in a non-comatose state Monday, I don't have to be anywhere or do anything until late Sunday, so I'll be able to hang out and do stuff.
