I don't have a whole lot to say about the most recent iteration of the Arab-Israeli Wars, but I think Cobb is right as usual. Go and do something useful: buy pizza for the troops.

On the other hand, some of the Kossacks seem bent on proving that Solzhenitsyn was right and the only difference between Communists and Nazis is the color of the ties. (Kate)
UPDATE: According to a commenter at Protein Wisdom, the author of that post may have been banned from DailyKos. Good news if true.

Lot of people are talking about Rudy Giuliani running for president on the GOP ticket come 2008, and some of them are talking about how social conservatives wouldn't vote for him, what with him being a New York Republican (pro-abortion, pro-gun control, yada yada). Well, speaking strictly for myself here, if we're still busy killing jihadis overseas in 2008 (and I expect we will be) then I'd rather have a hard libertarian like Rudy than a media-pleasing weasel like McCain in the White House. Not that I think McCain has a snowball's chance in hell of getting the nomination anyway, considering how much he has invested in his "maverick" image and how much he's pissed off conservatives and libertarians alike while building that image. Sure, I'd rather have George Allen, Mitt Romney, or Rick Perry, but Allen doesn't have the recognition. Romney scares the crap out of people who don't know from Mormonism, and Perry's in the same boat as Allen. (We're not even going to talk about Jeb Bush, because I'm sure he has more sense than to want to follow brother W without a break.) So yeah. I'd vote for Rudy. The man takes charge and moves out when the chips are down, and I think people are reasonable enough to realize that no matter how personally liberal he is, the House and Senate are going to be full of conservatives. We'll see what happens.
