Foregone socializing

I got invited at lunch to go hang out in one of the local watering holes with some former co-workers, but since the person who invited me said she'd drop me an e-mail before she left and hasn't, I think I'll give it a miss and head on home. I need to pick up some stuff at the Wal-Mart anyway, like a fresh supply of Actos and some miscellaneous grocery items, and will probably do dinner at the McDonald's there. Or not. We'll see. There's a lot on my plate already over the next couple of days, and I have a strong urge to just go home and hunker down.

Besides, it's the feast day of St. Polycarp. This would seem to indicate that many fish must be consumed on this day when the Law of the Fish must be observed most rigorously.
