Big haul of SF this week, even if some of it was in the mainstream fiction shelves...Ardneh's Sword by Fred Saberhagen, which looks like a promising extension of the classic Empire of the East trilogy; Ringo & Cochrane's Cally's War, which I didn't want to buy before I tried, especially after the steaming pile that was Watch on the Rhine; Charles Stross' Halting State; John Scalzi's The Last Colony, which caps off the trilogy that began with the most excellent Old Man's War; Minister Faust's The Coyote Kings of the Space Age Bachelor Pad, which I've been curious about since Faust was GoH at Diversicon a few years back; finally, Flashman and the Tiger. Oh wait, that's not SF. Neither are the four CDs I checked out, for that matter. Two of them, America's History and Billy Joel's The Nylon Curtain, I either have already or have owned in the past, and I borrowed them just to rip them so I have them around. U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind is disappointing; so far only two of the songs really rock me, and the rest are just background music. Hope the Chemical Brothers' Push the Button is better.

Got home from the library and opened my browser to find that Giuliani had dropped out of the nomination race after finishing third in Florida, which was supposed to be strong for him. Well, with Fred and Rudy out of the race, I don't really have anyone to pull for in the GOP ranks. I'll probably wind up voting for McCain or Romney, depending on which one makes it through the primaries, but with no great enthusiasm. Either of them would be better than Obama or Hillary, but that's not saying much. Huckabee, on the other hand...well, he's pretty much toast after finishing as poorly as he did in South Carolina.
