I have grown weary of fighting with LJ and its seemingly unending stream of DDoS attacks, especially since the new management doesn't seem to be inclined to compensate for the lost/erratic access. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] onsenmark, I'm now set up at Dreamwidth.

I know some of you have already migrated; would you be kind enough to leave your addresses in the comments so I can friend you on Dreamwidth as well? Or not, an it please ye.

I've set my DW posts to cross-post here for the convenience of those folks reading this via RSS, Google Reader, or some other automagical tomfoolery.

...but the recent problems LJ has been experiencing aren't giving me a lot of choice. There are things I don't care to post to E2 or Facebook, and if LJ isn't up enough for me to rely on it, I'll have to go with this.

Slept for about twelve hours last night after getting home from dropping Keith off after the PRSFS picnic. Picnic itself was nice; I ate some stuff I probably shouldn't have, but not too much, and I spent some time sprawled out in a chair just staring up into the trees in the hosts' back yard, which was badly needed chill/decompression time. Also got to talk SF with folks, which is an infrequent offline pleasure these days.

Added GrEaT sAtAn"S gIrLfRiEnD to my feed list after a lot of thrashing around in the LJ FAQ. This should provide some additional amusement for my fellow Right-Wing Death Beasts. :)

Today is going to be devoted to continuing recovery from Friday & Saturday's sleep-deprived adventures. I don't think I'll be getting out today (except for Mass), but then I can't think of anything that I really need to get out for. Still a little tired after the frenetic excesses of the weekend, which further reduces my interest in doing anything that doesn't involve sitting or laying down.

On the recommendation of Holy Trinity's pastor, I'm trying a different parish today, Epiphany of Our Lord in Annandale. He said that it was Ruthenian, as opposed to Holy Trinity which is Ukrainian, but I'm not sure the difference is really pertinent unless you're an old and bitter Slavic Catholic type, as Wikipedia hints of historical/political hoo-ha relating to the messy history of Poland and Ukraine. Me being a Southern Catholic Black Irish redneck Jew, none of that really matters to me. The big question is whether they do the liturgy in Ukrainian or English or some other language, and whether it's another mega-church like Blessed Sacrament. If it is, then I'm going to commit to the weekly hegira to the other end of the Washington suburbs and continue to hone my miserable Ukrainian skills. If not, well, it still feels a little slothful to only be driving ten miles to Mass.

Thanks to Smitty for the quote and link in today's Rule 5 post, which by the way I recommend to all my Loyal Readers who like them some cheesecake. Or beefcake, if that's how your tastes run. Anyway, if you're dropping by here from The Other McCain for the first time, come on in and have a look around. This is mostly a personal LJ, though I do pop off about books (mostly SF and history), the occasional movie, and other cultural stuff like wargames and music. I also have the occasional opinion about foreign policy, the military, and why you rotten little kids need to get the hell off my lawn life in God's Country. Use the tags, feel free to leave comments, but be aware that anonymous comments are moderated thanks to an influx of spammers, /b/tards, and other idiots a while back, so leaving your name or some other identifier in your comment will increase the chance of said comment actually being posted and/or replied to.

Time for me to scarf up some quick breakfast-like foods and head off to Mass.

I've been considering splitting off some of the content that currently goes on my LJ and sticking it on a separate blog or blogs. Right now, I'm leaning toward keeping all the personal stuff here on the LJ, and shifting the baseball, culture, politics -along with book and movie reviews- over to a separate site, somewhat similar to what Baseball Crank does. There's also the possibility of having separate blogs for baseball and cultural/political stuff.

I'd definitely link to the new site from LJ and Facebook so that people didn't miss anything. Comments? Questions? Suggestions?
