Jun. 2nd, 2005 04:22 pmWell, it's not as flexible and useful as the Jetsons' robot maid, much less Mahoro Ando, apparently the humble Roomba has its uses as a child care device.
Money quote:
"I love the thought that our children are growing up used to having domestic robots in the house. Robots for them are slightly dim but friendly vacuum cleaners, not fearsome weapons or fantasy toys. 'Robot love me,' declares the two-year-old."
Makes you wonder what that kid's going to think when she grows up and sees her first robot maid anime...considering that I can't think of one that doesn't have some romantic subtext involving the robot(s).
