wombat_socho: (Tonopah)
At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to be out of Tonopah by 1300...

Spent most of yesterday at the courthouse helping with the election. Rushed home to renew my PTIN and state license (got to do the fingerprints on Thursday before I leave Vegas), rushed back to work after grabbing a turkey wrap & tea at Raley's, and punched out at 1630 so I could get home and lose two out of three to the Giants. Jim Kaat got absolutely brutalized in Game 1, but Marichal and the bullpen combined to shut the Giants down in Game 2. Game 3...well, maybe I should have started Coleman, but Dobson was fresh - and he got hammered. We got three runs off Jim Palmer, but Coleman allowed two of Dobson's runs to score and allowed one of his own, so the final score was 6-3. Adding to my problems is that Mays is injured for another two days, which hurts the offense at a bad time in the season. Playing two against Oakland on Friday. Ugh.

Did laundry last night and had meat loaf for dinner with soup and salad and some strawberry shortcake for dessert. Weight was down, BP was up, and BG was nominal, in the 140s.

Time to finish packing, go get gas, see if any of my meds are in at the post office, and hit the road for the Stratosphere. Decided to splurge on the deluxe room with the fridge and coffee machine since I'm on the arm. The weather is truly shitty today (high winds and temps just above freezing) so I'm going to be super careful out there.

Well, it wasn't as bad as this drive last year, but there was lots of rain and lots of wind, so I was doing 60 for most of the run as opposed to the 70-75 I usually hit between the small towns on 95.

The post office had my Ozempic, some other drug I forgot to bring in from the car, a couple of books (one from Martin, one from Amazon which I'm 99% sure is Spy x Family Volume 4) and best of all my new CCCU debit card, which I promptly activated...once I was at the Shell and able to get signal. Put 9 gallons of regular into the Kia ($4.60 after Fuel Rewards discount, FJB) which proved to be the right choice because gas was $4.99 at the Rebel in Beatty and $5.25 at the Terrible's in Indian Springs. After picking up the obligatory tea, chicken salad sammiches, and Diet Coke at Raley's, I was off.

Stopped only once, at Eddieworld in Beatty, because I needed to take a monumental dump, and I bought some tropical trail mix on the way out. Kept driving through the rain and the wind and the dark until I finally reached the Stratosphere. I managed to check in at the robot, which this time dispensed my key, so up to the 23rd floor I went. Unpacked, set up the laptop, moved the laptop and the desk lamp so I could see the keyboard, and then got on the phone, fired up the Carl's Jr. app and ordered a Really Big Carl combo with fried zucchini on the side. They were out of Diet Coke when I went to get it, but they had Diet Dr. Pepper and that was even better.

Knocked out the catchup blog for Monday, and now I think I'm going to call it a night and crash, since I need to be up at 0700 (preferably earlier) to hit the Omelet House before training starts. Or maybe I'll just hit Carl's Jr. for breakfast and then get some Claritin-D and tea at the Walgreens on Charleson & Las Vegas. Decisions, decisions. Also, all my cables (except a USB-B > C) apparently got left in Tonopah somehow.
