Back on the mountain
Jun. 2nd, 2023 07:25 pmStaying at the Stratosphere for an additional night was a good idea. I got nine hours of sleep, most likely on account of the yuge dinner from Olive Garden, and managed to get out of the room only a little after the 1100 checkout time. Got to my car and found some yutz had tried to jack it in my absence, but they only succeeded in breaking the part of the driver's side handle covering the lock. Once I had my bags stowed, it was off to the Omelet House for coffee and a big bacon/broccoli/cheddar omelet; then I went by Sonic for hydration, Murphy's for fuel ($3.959, ugh, #FJB) and the new Dunkin across the street from Murphy's for more hydration and a couple of doughnuts, for it is National Doughnut Day.
Then I made the executive decision to skip Sam's Club and just head north. Stopped in Indian Springs for intake and discharge of fluids, outside Mercury to capture the Test Site portal, and briefly in Beatty to flip the Hornet Territory portal with an ADA before driving slowly through town to hack all the frog portals for gear before heading out to Goldfield, where I made another pit stop and captured the Tourist Center, from which I managed to throw a link to the cemetery in Tonopah.
Got home around 1730, unloaded my luggage, and after unpacking a few things I started doing the catchup link blog for yesterday. I'll fix something for dinner and do the Friday blog as well. Unlike previous drives back from out of town, I actually don't feel hideously tired.
My part in the draft for Pete's 1971 league ended today; I could have drafted another player but decided to forgo it in favor of a waiver pick.
Tomorrow, the to-do list will include a trip to the post office, maybe Strawberry Hill, Raley's, and a bit of ingressing.
