You know that joke about "the beatings will continue until morale improves"?
Apparently it's not a joke any more.
(Instapundit)

And yes, I realize the BDSM community has been saying this for years, but I was pretty sure their prepositions were screwed up. Maybe not.

Just so long as they don't try to apply this in a corporate environment. Otherwise, the beatdowns will continue until MY morale improves.

To be fair, that particular Russian researcher is a bit of a whack-job. That being said, the science is pretty clear and increasingly so the more we understand how we process and interpret pain that this sort of thing works.

Still, I think it's going to be a while before we're hiring dominatrixes for mental health clinic staffs. ;)

Don't worry, with the Republicans in power much longer there won't be any mental health clinics to hire them...

;-)

What, you think the state-run joints are the only game in town?
The mental health business (drug & detox treatment in particular) has long been a very profitable part of "Medical Alley" up here in Minnesota. Also, it's extremely rare to find any kind of medical insurance that doesn't have mental health coverage on it. (Could be a state mandate up here; not sure.)

Besides, if Our Dark Lord Karl pulls off a surprise smackdown again at the polls, those places will be doing a land-office business from BDS cases alone.

Dark Lord Karl. I like that. If you sacrifice a chicken to him, do you get a free coffee mug?

I'm pretty sure he's on a cash-only basis.
Well, cash and souls. You know. ;)

LOL!

All true. Drug and detox work isn't really part of mental health care though, it's an empire all it's own with special certifications and everything. Most medical insurance across the country does have something, but the coverage tends to be... lousy.

You're right about them being a separate set of certifications & facilities, but from the insurance standpoint it's all the same, gets handled by the same coverage. The whole health insurance system is badly broken and needs fixing anyway, as one might expect from a system that really hasn't changed since it was started in the 1940s as a way for employers to get around WW2 wage controls.
