As I expected, [livejournal.com profile] danae and the other consuite heads agreed that I was too sick, lame and gimpy to be working as their subhead. [livejournal.com profile] petsnakereggie still wants me on staff in some capacity, so we'll see what happens. I'd really like to work with [livejournal.com profile] michaellee and [livejournal.com profile] thaadd on programming, since I usually do a few panels every year anyway and am totally fascinated by the process, but it's not my call. More news if/when something happens.

The immigration compromise sellout is teh suck. A hopelessly Byzantine guest worker/naturalization process and the mere promise of an incomplete border fence, all to be run by these craptastic losers. If the House goes along with this piece of recycled shit from 1986 (for those of you scoring at home, that was the Reagan Amnesty, and we all saw how well that worked) then we deserve to lose Congress to the Democrats, because at that point, on that most important issue, there really will be nothing to distinguish the two parties from each other. At which point we can just go home and wait for the inevitable Islamofascist/irredentist victory.

Ursula Vernon has a remarkably concise summary of the whole Gospel of Judas stupidity by way of an analogy I frankly never thought of: the Gnostic Gospels as fanfic. More conventional/Catholic beatdowns from Professor Bainbridge, the Anchoress, and Hugh Hewitt, who links to some Protestant folks who don't care much for this "rediscovered" gospel either.

Last but not least, for those of you who like things that blow up real good, the Air Force is going to be testing "The Divine Strake" in Nevada pretty soon. I really like Yaakov Kirschen's take on it. "Did the Earth move for you too?" Indeed. ^^

Yes, I know that's not how the refrain to that song by Lynch Mob goes, but until I actually bought the CD I didn't know, so thpppbbbt.

Renewed my Reader's Advantage card at Barnes & Noble today in the process of acquiring this year's edition of Baseball Prospectus, which this year has given up on splitting the teams by league; this will make it much easier to find players, and that is a Good Thing. Since the draft for my Yahoo! fantasy league is at 9:30 tomorrow morning, I'll probably be up until about midnight poring over it, the Sporting News Fantasy Baseball Manager's Advisor (or whatever the hell it's called this year) and the projections in the STATS Major League Handbook. That will leave me all afternoon tomorrow to do laundry, work on the assessment assignments which are being punted in favor of baseball, and then maybe motor on over to Muppet Labs for the party [livejournal.com profile] windelina and Monte are throwing.

Sunday afternoon I'm going to thrash [livejournal.com profile] redmartel at Russo-Polish War, or maybe not, since there looks to be all kinds of randomness in the game system. We might even squeeze in a game of Freikorps, which is really the logical follow-on to a Russian victory in the 1921 war, since it posits a Communist revolution in Germany following a Soviet conquest of Poland, but that's up to my host.

Sometime during the weekend, a haircut and some shopping. I've registered for my summer classes (Adolescent Psych for the first time and Social Studies Methods - again) so the leftovers from my student loan should trickle down to me by the end of the month. Onward and upwards.

I noticed while reading Instapundit sometime in the last couple of days that Thomas Dolby has begun blogging. What I didn't realize is that synthesizer technology has come so far in two decades, a Fairlight that set Mr. Dolby back 120 G's in 1982 can now be stuck into your PC for a mere $180, according to Ed Driscoll.

Other things not readily available in 1982: MP3 players, software to feed them with, broadband Internet for the masses that allowed downloading of music, and, really, this vast array of blogs to learn about it on. What price progress?
