wombat_socho: FGSFDS Palin (FGSFDS)
Woke up ~0130 and couldn't get back to sleep...going to try again in a few minutes.

Probably should have waited until morning to get the news, but like a moron I fired up Cowzilla and scoped out the election results. Meh. As I said in a comment over at [livejournal.com profile] armalitespade's joint, "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." A lot of people are going to get it good and hard for the next 4-8 years...and I expect to enjoy plenty of schadenfreude as the folk dazzled by The Lightworker realize how much they're going to pay for their refusal to see the new President for what he is. It ain't all about the taxes, either.

People who think Governor Palin is going to fade back into some kind of Northern Sun twilight zone are kidding themselves. Give her four years to assemble a campaign and she'll have a good shot at the '08 nomination.

Well, there's not a lot to be said about the McCain campaign's failure that hasn't been said elsewhere. Probably the best summation of the whole wretched mess is the other McCain's post here, which links to an equally good article.

So the time has come for agonizing reappraisal in the GOP ranks. Just about the only thing people seem to agree on is that the "Republican commentariat" (Noonan, Chris Buckley, et al) who turned on Palin and/or publicly backed Obama needs to be shunned, or at least ignored. Their advice got us into this mess, and nothing they say is likely to get us out of it. I suspect we're waiting for another Newt to come along, and it won't be a very long wait.

Felt like hammered shit all day today due to screwed-up sleep cycle, and got to take a vision range exam at the end of the day to boot. Weehu. Now I need to head over to Fox Way to do laundry, since I'm pretty close to broke. :(
